The ability to tolerate opposites in human experience is considered to be an important if not the most important qualification for personal and spiritual development as all other qualifications can be seen as difficult to achieve without this capacity, called affect tolerance in psychology and titiksa in Advaita Vedanta.
In the seminar, the science-backed and body-based practice of embodying emotions from Integral Somatic Psychotherapy (ISP) will be introduced as an effective but simple method for improving psychological, mindfulness, and spiritual practices, the topic to be treated in greater depth, in theory, and practice, over the four-week course to follow on April 28, May 5, May 12, and May 19.
This seminar is intended for anyone practicing mindfulness or any spiritual practice including the path of enlightenment or non-duality and for therapists in all modalities who are looking for a complementary method for improving their outcomes and shortening treatment times in their practice.

In this four-week course, we will learn the science behind the practice of embodying emotions. We'll learn how to go about the practice of embodying emotions in four simple steps. We will learn how to implement a seven-step protocol to use when we run into a very limited capacity for emotional suffering. In the fourth and final module, we will look at the comprehensive model of the psyche from Integral Somatic Psychology (ISP) and see how the building of capacity to tolerate opposites in human experience through the practice of embodying emotions can improve our diverse spiritual practices.
Every module will have guided exercises to have participants experience the practice of embodying emotions and their various benefits firsthand. The course will also expand the definition of emotion and the range of emotions so that participants can quickly find an emotion to work within every situation they face.
